You pay now to reserve your program. A licensed clinician then reviews your intake. If treatment isn’t medically appropriate for you, you receive a full refund within 5 business days. Payment does not guarantee a prescription. Insurance help applies to medication only: consultations and follow-ups are self-pay and are not billed to insurance. Medication for brand-name prescriptions is not included in Nutree fees; its cost depends on your pharmacy, savings programs and insurance coverage.

How we help your insurance cover your medication

During your brand-name consultation (45 minutes, $120), we evaluate whether your insurance is likely to cover your medication. If it is, our team handles the whole prior authorization for $50.

1. We evaluate your eligibility

Your clinician reviews your plan’s criteria, such as BMI thresholds, weight-related conditions, prior treatments or step therapy, and tells you honestly whether coverage looks likely.

2. Share your insurance details

If coverage looks possible, you share your insurance card and preferred pharmacy.

3. We submit the request

Your clinician completes it with the medical documentation your insurer asks for.

4. We follow up

We track the request and tell you the outcome. If it is denied, we explain your options, including an appeal.

The same care, whichever route you choose

Whichever route you choose, your care is the same: a licensed clinician who reviews your history and labs, adjusts your plan as you go, with secure messaging open 7 days a week.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nutree Clinic take insurance?

Nutree Clinic is self-pay, with published prices. For brand-name Zepbound® or Wegovy®, your medication is filled at your own pharmacy, where your insurance may cover it, and we can prepare the prior authorization for $50.

Can I use my FSA or HSA?

Yes. You can pay with an FSA or HSA card; eligibility is decided by your plan administrator, and some plans ask for documentation of medical necessity, which your clinician can provide.

Will my insurance cover Zepbound® or Wegovy®?

It depends on your plan. Many commercial plans cover brand-name GLP-1s for weight loss only after a prior authorization showing you meet their criteria, such as BMI and weight-related conditions. Some plans exclude weight-loss medications entirely. We check your plan requirements as part of the prior authorization.

How long does a prior authorization take?

Often one to several weeks, depending on your insurer. We submit the medication request with your clinician’s documentation, follow up with the insurer, and let you know the decision and your options.

What if my insurance denies coverage?

You can appeal, or use a manufacturer savings program or a self-pay option for the brand-name medication. Your clinician will discuss which treatment options are medically appropriate for you.

Does insurance cover my Nutree consultations?

No. Nutree consultations and plans are self-pay and are not billed to insurance, and we do not provide superbills for visit reimbursement. Insurance help applies only to your medication: if we believe your plan may cover brand-name Zepbound® or Wegovy®, we handle the prior authorization for $50. You can pay for consultations with your FSA or HSA card.
